It originally specialized in mechanistic modeling of environmental
engineering processes including pollution control systems. Models
developed for this field include simulators of the activated sludge
process, sequencing batch reactor, air stripper with chemical reaction,
storm water discharge, aqueous solubility of heavy metals, and compressive
gravity thickening.

Empirical modeling of environmental processes led to the use of
linear ARMA models and
artificial neural network (ANN) models. This, in turn, led to
the development of Multivariate Polynomial Regression (MPR), which
combines the advantages of both ARMA and ANN models. MPR is implemented
in TaylorFit software.
Since MPR is a completely empirical modeling technique, it can
be used in any area. The availability of this powerful tool has
led Simetrica, LLC to develop numerous applications ranging from
business to engineering.
